Armani is a name that has become synonymous with elegant simplicity and sophistication. Founded by a former window dresser, the Armani fashion house is one of the most respected and profitable in the world. Though he made his name as a designer of haute couture, Giorgio Armani has expanded his impressive line to include shoes, jewelry, watches, eyewear, leather accessories, cosmetics and even home interiors. He also works with perfumes.
Years before he began to aggressively expand his line, Giorgio was experimenting with perfumes and colognes. His first official foray into the industry was in 1981, when he released Giorgio by Giorgio Beverley Hills. The next year he introduced Armani, a perfume for women. It was the first of many successful scents that were sold under the Giorgio Armani label. Two years later, be released his first fragrance for men, which he called Armani Eau Pour Homme.
Armani continued to release fragrances for men and women throughout the 1990s, most of which became bestsellers. The designer was particularly fond of floral fragrances that could be worn by both sexes. Armani also introduced his now famous soft-edged square bottle during this period.
His perfumes were marketed and sold under different labels. Some were meant for mass consumption and were more affordable, while others had limited distribution and were very expensive. It is one of the designer’s most popular fragrance lines with five distinct scents for men and women.
Black Code was released in 2004 and was marketed as the company’s first ever oriental fragrance for men. But when sales exceeded expectations, it was promptly renamed Armani Code to give it some much needed cachet.
The name change worked, as for Men went on to become a bestseller. It was followed two years later by Armani Code for Women. Three additional scents for both sexes have since been added to the line. Let us take a moment to review them individually.
Armani Code Eau de Toilette
The original fragrance for men combines a pleasant citron cocktail of lemon and bergamot with a natural olive tree blossom that is heated with Tonka Bean and Guaiac wood. Men love it because it is subtle and sensual and can be worn every day; and also because women love it. It is describe by many as a genuinely masculine scent. Sold in the classic Armani glass bottle of the deepest blue, it is available in 1, 1.7, 2.5 and 4 ounce sizes.
Armani Code Men Summer
A relatively new addition to the line, Armani Code Men Summer is designed to capture the brightness of the sun in Southern Italy and the cool and refreshing waters of the Mediterranean. Its list of natural ingredients includes grapefruit, bergamot, cedar wood and musk. The fragrance is a bit lighter than its predecessor, but is still undeniably masculine. Armani Code Summer is only available in a 2.5 oz. bottle.
Armani Code for Women Eau de Parfum
Fragrances for women are typically more complicated than scents for men. Perhaps that is why it took Armani two years longer to develop an Armani Code fragrance for the girls. Fortunately, it was worth the wait. Armani Code for Women contains ingredients like fresh ginger accents, honey sandalwood and orange flower notes. The scent is mysterious and seductive and can be worn every day. It is sold in 1, 1.7 and 2.5 oz bottles.
Armani Code Women Summer
Like the fragrance for the guys, Armani Code Women Summer attempts to capture the olfactory experience of Southern Italy in the summer months. The fragrance features Orange Blossom, ginger, pear sorbet and musk. It is a fresh and sexy sent that is designed for special occasions. Armani Code Women Summer is only sold in a 2.5 oz bottle.
Armani Code Women Sheer Eau de Toilette
The third addition to the women’s side of the This line is designed to be light and ethereal. It is an everyday scent that is refreshing and invigorating. Many liken the experience of wearing Armani Code Women Sheer Eau de Toilette to getting out of the shower in the morning. They feel energized, confidant and ready to take on the world. The new fragrance is an appealing admixture of orange blossom, jasmine, lily-of-the-valley, cyclamen, neroli and delicate musks. It is only sold in the 2.5 oz. bottle.
